Bollywood actresses share tips on beating the summer heat

Katrina Kaif: It may sound bizarre, but I actually enjoy the summers. However, when we shoot, it gets annoying to put on all the make-up, fix your hair in fancy ways and wear different kinds of costumes, especially if you have an outdoor schedule. When I am not working, I generally wear cotton clothes and the same applies to summers. I don’t need to make any changes to my diet as such as I mostly have light, non-greasy and non-spicy food. I also tend to consume a lot of fruits. But I do increase my water intake during this time of the year.

Jacqueline Fernandez: As I wake up, I eat papaya with squeezed lemon. and a glass of hot water to go with it. I eat salads and home-cooked food, raise my veggie and grain intake. I workout everyday and currently, I am into pilates and dance. I always keep my water sipper handy at all times. Summer is all about comfort so I mostly slip into dresses, or a white shirt paired with jeans.

Rhea Chakraborty: Summer fashion means loose clothes, comfortable fabrics like linen and cotton, short dresses, flowy skirts and lots of whites. I like to top it with a Bohemian hair band/ head gear that keeps the hair from getting into my face. I avoid spicy and oily food, and opt for vegetarian food. Juices, coconut water, rotis or brown rice, yoghurt, buttermilk and cold watermelon salad are great ways to keep one’s system cool. It is equally important to wash the face at regular intervals. I use a light aloe vera moisturiser and a sunscreen. And what’s better than a refreshing spray of rose water on my skin! Skin wipes are a must-have in my bag.

Bipasha Basu: During summer, I go on my annual beach holidays and Goa is one of my most preferred locations. I slap on some sunblock and put on a fedora/ bandana as I step out. My summer skin care routine includes a lot of green juices and the basic mantra to stay hydrated is to drink loads of water. I am allergic to vitamins, so citrus fruits are a no-no for me. I have coconut water instead and live on watermelon and pomegranate.

Nimrat Kaur: I like to wear summer dresses and flared linen pants when it gets too hot to handle. I personally don’t wear any headgear because my hair gets sweaty, but an umbrella is a good idea. I avoid food which heat up the body and have lots of fruits, especially water melon. Since I don’t use sun block, I make it a point to keep my skin moisturised and have lots of water. One thing that I cannot step out without is my deodorant.

Yami Gautam: I stick to comfortable fabrics for the summer. So, cotton dresses and shirts in light, soothing colours are my thing. I avoid wearing too many cut sleeves to avoid tanning. For skin care, I don’t wear make-up when I am not working. I use a lot of sunscreen when I go out. Even moisturising is important. Coconut water is great, not just to drink but also to apply on the face. Put it in an ice tray and rub the ice on your face after a tiring day and it really soothes you. In terms of food, I like going for seasonal fruits like watermelon. It keeps you light and hydrated. As the body gets dehydrated soon, I keep sipping water throughout the day and avoid spicy food. Two things that I cannot do without during summer are sunscreen and a bottle of water.

Kalki Koechlin: My fashion staple for the summer months is a pair of cotton pyjamas teamed with a kurta. Plus, a straw hat when I step out of home. Gallons of water and lassi are a must for me during sultry weather. For skin care, I steer clear of foundation, and simply go with mascara and lip stain.

Bhumi Pednekar: Summer for me is all about cottons and dresses, going for light colours and textures. Hair bands and pin ups are my thing, so are fun messy braids and pony tails. My diet comprises loads of water and juices, vegetables and fruits, like kale, spinach and beetroot smoothie — basically food that detoxify your body. I have light, small and frequent meals to keep myself hydrated. Aloe vera gel is my one-stop cure for every skin issue.

Celeb Spotting: L'Oreal Paris Femina Women Awards 2015

The fourth edition of L'Oreal Paris Femina Women Awards was concluded yesterday in Mumbai with gorgeous Bollywood beauties who made their presence felt at the red carpet. The award ceremony rewards and felicitates Indian women who stepped out of their comfort zone and achieved success in their individual careers. Apart from it's noble cause, we couldn't help notice that this is one platform where all three L'Oreal brand ambassadors came together. Well, check out who looked the best at the red carpet.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: The Bollywood beauty and the brand ambassador of L’Oreal was among those present at the award function. She was seen wearing a gorgeous Sabyasachi black and golden work tunic along with a matte black clutch cut by the same designer. We must say she looked as elegant as ever.

Elli Avram: The Bigg Boss 7 star walked the red carpet wearing an abstract print v neck gown. We love the overall look however we feel the nude stilettos are just out of place.

Gauahar Khan: The Bigg Boss 7 star walked in for the award function wearing designer Ken Ferns printed strapless gown. The gown was a good choice by the actress keeping in mind the current summer-spring trend of prints. We feel Gauahar did justice to the ensemble.

Katrina Kaif: After her last film Bang Bang bombed at the box office, Katrina was missing from the Bollywood circuit. However, she was seen walking the red carpet at the award function that night wearing an all black sequined gown by Ports 1961. She looks beautiful in the attire, however we are not really a fan of this look.

Neha Dhupia: She was all set to host the award night wearing a monochrome Rocky S gown. Keeping it simple, Neha kept her make up nude and tied her hair in a top updo. She carried a black Bottega Veneta clutch and sparkling earrings from Anmol to add glamour to her attire.

Sonam Kapoor: This Bollywood fashionista never fails to impress us. Once again, Sonam pulled off another stunning look as she walked the red carpet in a powder pink Toni Maticevski gown. The jewelled Leiber minaudiere is what caught our eyes. Isn’t this a perfect look for award function?

Tanisha Mukherjee: We believe Tanisha is trying too hard to look stylish. At Femina Women Awards, Tanisha wore a shiny red gold embellished gown with side parted sleek hairstyle. We feel that after a stylish appearance at Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards, Tanisha is back to square one.

Urvashi Rautela: The model/actress walked the red carpet wearing Neha Agarwal’s printed gown. We feel Urvashi looked uber stylish by keeping her hair and make up subtle and letting the colourful gown get all the attention. However, we think she could have given the feather ring a miss.
